How to lighten dyed hair naturally!

Hello lovelies!

Have you ever tried to dye your hair a lovely dark brown and it surprisingly came out black? I definitely have. In fact, I did this very thing to myself about a week ago. Obviously, my first reaction was to panic. I was supposed to be sending pictures of my hair colour to someone for my hair extensions in a week! My hair is quite thin and already breaks very easily. The last thing I needed was to douse my hair in hair colour stripper and destroy it!

In comes the saviour of the hour, this lovely blend of ingredients. I will share the mixture I used twice to lighten my hair up to my lovely dark brown hair colour! I was absolutely astounded by how well this worked.

What you will need:

  1. Something to crush the vitamin c tablets into dust. Also maybe a bag to do it in otherwise it gets quite messy!
  2. No surprised here, vitamin c tablets. I used 12 500mg tablets for each mixture.
  3. Washing up liquid. I used one tablespoon (optional, but it helps take more dye out).
  4. Some cheap anti-dandruff or clarifying shampoo, two tablespoons.
  5. A bowl to mix it in, unless you want to try your luck at using a counter.
  6. Something to keep your hair from drying out when the mixture is on your head e.g. a shower cap!
Method:

  • Mix everything together until you get a sort of foamy mixture.
  • Wet your hair so it's damp and plop the mixture on. Massage it in well (I massaged my head for about five minutes), and shove your shower cap on and go read or watch something for two hours.
  • When your time is up, simply wash it out. I used a couple of quick extra washes with the anti-dandruff shampoo to make sure I got all of the loose dye out of my hair.
  • Depending on how light you need to go, repeat it again the next day if necessary.

Word of warning! After applying this two days in a row, my scalp was very sore. I did notice it after the first time as well. However, I still think that this is 100 times better for your hair than the chemical hair colour stripper!

Give it a go and tell me how it went! Or if you've tried this, please share your experience!

Happy living!
